Puglia (pronounced poo-lee-uh), one of Italy’s 20 provinces, is the southernmost eastern region of Italy. It is a peninsula, often referred to as the “heel of the boot.” With its nearly 600 miles of coastline – the Adriatic in the east, the Ionian south and west – it is one of the most beautiful in all of Italy. Land of sun and sea; silvery olive orchards carpet the landscape, with an estimated 60 million trees, and countless miles of farms and vineyards that stretch to the sandy beaches, surrounded by the clearest seas in the Mediterranean.
Puglia is dotted with quaint small villages, baroque cities, white-washed towns and incredible UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The region maintains ancient popular traditions, and is the ultimate food and wine lovers’ paradise! Our extraordinary tour, one of our most popular, includes all the main attractions in this lesser-known region, and our itinerary is ideal for those visiting Puglia for the first time. Guests will be amazed by the extraordinary historical and artistic urban centers, by the rural landscapes, and by its superb food and wines!
It a week’s time we tour the countryside – visiting farms, vineyards, and some of the most unique destinations in all of Italy! We’ll explore the sites of Italy’s oldest civilizations, a family dairy where the famed Burrata cheese originates, and cosmopolitan and coastal cities where we will be served some of Italy’s most unique and exquisite cuisine. And if that’s not all, of course, after we source the best of the region’s foods, we’ll take part in hands-on cooking experiences, preparing and enjoying some of the most iconic Pugliese dishes!
